The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Support pupils with a range of special educational needs
* Use Makaton to support communication, understanding and engagement
* Work 1:1 and with small groups to help pupils access learning
* Support pupils with routines, transitions and emotional regulation
* Assist the class teacher with activities, resources and differentiated learning
* Help create a calm, positive and inclusive classroom environment
* Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction
* Follow behaviour support plans and individual learning targets where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Makaton training or strong experience using Makaton
* Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN
* Experience with ASD, communication needs, non-verbal pupils or complex needs is desirable
* A patient, calm and nurturing approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Confidence working 1:1 and in small groups
* An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
