Job description

Position: Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: NW6 5SN
Start Date: September 2024.
Type: Long Term

Role Overview:
As a Graduate SEN TA, you'll play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and other developmental challenges. You'll work closely with experienced educators to provide one-on-one support, assist in lesson planning, and create a nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, including assisting with academic tasks, social skills development, and emotional regulation.
  2. Differentiated Instruction: Collaborate with teachers to adapt and modify lesson plans and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students with SEN, ensuring that content is accessible and engaging.
  3. Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and address challenging behaviours effectively, in line with the school's behaviour policy and individual student behaviour plans.
  4. Inclusion Support: Foster an inclusive classroom environment where students with SEN feel valued, respected, and included, promoting peer acceptance and understanding through collaborative activities and discussions.
  5. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), parents/guardians, and other relevant stakeholders to share information about student progress, concerns, and achievements.

Requirements:

  • Has or is willing to obtain an enhanced DBS.
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable(not mandatory)
  • Graduate degree in a subject
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Is confident maintaining a possible work environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
