Job description
Are you a compassionate and patient teaching assistant with experience supporting children with speech and language disabilities?
We need a Teaching Assistant to make a difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.
If you have experience working with children on a 1:1 basis and are confident in communication, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 support to students with speech and language disabilities, ensuring they receive personalised attention and assistance.
- Implementing strategies and interventions to support students' communication development, including the use of visual aids, assistive technologies, and specialised communication techniques.
- Collaborating with the classroom teacher and other support staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Assisting students with sensory or speech impairments in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
- Monitoring and recording student progress and behavior, and reporting any concerns or observations to the classroom teacher or SENCO
- Supporting students with transitions between activities and helping them develop independence and self-confidence.
Requirements:
- An Enhanced DBS check, demonstrating suitability to work with children and young people.
- Previous experience working within a school setting, preferably with children on a 1:1 basis or with sensory/speech impairments.
- A relevant teaching qualification, demonstrating your knowledge of effective teaching practices.
- Confidence in communication, with the ability to effectively interact with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Knowledge of PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and/or Makaton would be advantageous but is not essential.
