Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for an Teaching Assistant to work in an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' Primary School.

The school requires a caring and resilient individual, who is confident in supporting children with SEN.

The Role:

  • The role is full time (5 days per week) for the successful candidate
  • You will be supporting children with Autism, Social Communication Difficulties and associated behaviours in the Autism Resource Provision of a mainstream Primary School.
  • The role will be to start as soon as possible and there will be an opportunity to apply permanently after two terms.
  • The School offers personal development for all staff members, you will often have the opportunity to attend additional training.

The School:

  • The Autism Resource Provision (ARP) caters for children aged 4 - 11 years old with Autism, Social Communication Difficulties, Complex Needs and associated behaviours.
  • The classes are small with 6 - 8 children per class
  • The Teacher is amazing and is relentless in her drive for continued improvement.
  • The curriculum is presented and supported in a variety of ways. It is practical, functionally based and supports lifelong learning.

The Candidate:

  • Will have UK classroom experience
  • Ideally have experience working with children with Autism and associated behaviours.
  • PECS, MAKATON, TEAACH or TEAM TEACH would be an advantage but not necessary.
  • Excel at building great relationships with pupils and staff
  • Have a current DBS on the update service or be prepared to put one in to process
  • Be available to start on 2nd September 2024 and continue for the Academic Year.
