Learning Support Assistant - Outreach (1:1 or 2:1)

Location: Old Harlow, Essex

About Us:

We are committed to providing inclusive and supportive education to our students, including those with diverse complex learning needs and situations. Currently, we are seeking compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join us on a terp-to-permanent basis, with the opportunity to transition into social care roles after one year.

Position Overview:

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to students with additional needs, either on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. With a focus on fostering independence and promoting inclusion, you will work closely with students, tutors/ Mentors, and other professionals to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom.

  • Assist students with academic tasks, social skills development, and personal care, as required.

  • Implement individual education and behavior plans, in collaboration with teachers and support staff, to meet the unique needs of each student.

  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in school activities, adapting support strategies as necessary.

  • Monitor and record student progress, behavior, and well-being, and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students at all times, including during off-site activities or outings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid driving licence and business car insurance, with the ability to transport students as required.

  • Enhanced DBS check, covering both child and adult workforce, or willingness to undergo one prior to starting.

  • Previous experience working with individuals with additional needs, preferably in an educational or social care setting.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting individuals with diverse needs.
