Job description
An enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant is required for Key Stage 1 in a large, vibrant primary school in Manchester. This is a general class TA role supporting children across the curriculum, particularly with Reading, Writing, Phonics and Maths so it is essential that you have strong knowledge and understanding of these areas.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys supporting children across all curriculum areas, and is confident in their ability to assess children's understanding and help them make progress at the best possible rate. You will be required to work effectively with the class teacher, leading groups at all ability levels, and managing behaviour calmly and positively to create a productive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Work with individuals and groups of children with learning activities across the curriculum, especially Reading, Writing, Phonics and Maths
- Make resources, prepare activities, contribute to displays,
- Plan learning activities in conjunction with the class teacher
- Make and record assessments
- Manage behaviour calmly and positively
Requirements:
- Experience working within Key Stage 1 in a UK primary school
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or degree
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be prepared to process a new DBS at a cost of £45.20
- Be able to provide professional references covering the last 2 full years
- Available long-term as this role is for the full academic year
