Job description
St John's RC School is a special needs school and college in Woodford Green, in outer london, with 140 students aged 5-25. St John's is a well-equipped school, with a large outdoor space, offering a wide range of learning opportunities and experiences for our students. It is accessible by tube and bus, with parking on site.
We are looking for an experienced speech and language therapist to join our dynamic and experienced on site therapy team. The successful candiate will have had experience of working in schools, and good knowledge and understanding of autism, Down's Syndrome and learning disabilities. Experience in AAC is also desirable.
This rewarding job offers the opportunity to develop strong and effective working relationships with both students and staff, to deliver positive learning experiences for our students in school as well as engagement in the wider community.
You will be working as part of a friendly and experienced team multidisciplinary team, based in the therapies office on site. The team consists of speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and music therapists, as well as the wider multidisciplinary tea, including teachers, learning support assistants, learning mentors and the family support worker, offering holistic support to students and their families. We offer unique opportunities for joint working with other disciplines, such as occupational therapy and music therapy, in delivering direct therapy to students.
We also work closely with our senior leadership team in delivering and informing the school development plan. As part of this, we provide training to school staff.
The department is well resourced with excellent support from our therapies assistant. CPD opportunities are available, as well as opportunities to specialise in specific areas incluidng AAC.
The post in term time only with both full time and part time options avaliable. NHS matched and annual leave entitlement.
