Special needs Teaching Assistant - London A Special school (SEN) which caters for pupils with a range of needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism (ASD) and behavioural difficulties (EBD) is looking for Teaching Assistants to start ASAP for long-term roles. There are a high proportion of autistic children attending the school so a good knowledge and understanding of autism is essential for the role. Also, being able to work with challenging behaviour would be beneficial. The role will be very varied; you will need to be flexible to work with pupils aged 4-16 years old in a whole class setting and also 1:1 work with certain pupils.
We are currently working alongside a SEMH school in Cheadle, to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work with children and young people with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs and associated challenging behaviour and other learning difficulties, As a result of this you would be supporting the teacher in classes of no more than 10 pupils. Your role will mainly involve supporting the pupils with their new routines and classes, helping them to adapt to school both academically and socially. You will be working with children and young people who are not able attend mainstream education for multiple reasons, such as Anxiety, Exclusion, Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties.
