We are working with two Autism Specialist schools in Nottingham city who are looking for an experienced teacher to work in KS2/3 mainly. (Also there may be the option to work to work with the SLT team in the future, so any previous SLT experience is desirable) Both Schoosl cater for students from year 4 through to Post 16 - so this is a great chance to work with a variety of age groups. In addition to this, the Schools are an Autism Specialist School so pupils will present with ASC and associated communication, social, sensory and learning differences. We are working with an Autism Specialist school in the NG1 area, who are in need of NINE teaching assistants to start ASAP (likely to continue for the academic year). The ASC specialist school supports students from 5 years old to 17 years old who present with Autism and other Special Educational Needs. All the classes have small group sizes and students are grouped based on ability levels rather than set age groups. Some of the students have challenging behaviour and can be disruptive to the class.

A partnership client in the NG8 area requires a tutor to work 1:1 with a 14 year old Autistic student, for 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. We are looking for someone with: Extensive Autism experience Confidence to work with aggressive and some sexualised behaviour Experience in working with older children with complex needs Experience utilising Makaton, PECS or other communication aids About the role: The young person is severely Autistic, very hyposensitive to the environment, needs lots of stimulation and has very limited language. He can also present with aggressive behaviour in addition to showing some inappropriate unhygienic and sexual behaviour, especially in public. He uses basic PECS and Makaton to help him communicate with and understand others.
