SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex needs

Would you like to work with secondary aged children with special needs as a Teaching Assistant? If so, please consider this Teaching Assistant role.

This secondary SEND school in Bolton, Manchester is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work across both key stage 3 and 4. The school has an exceptional record of success with pupil attainment and maintains very high standards for both staff and pupils. Due to the success, the school are now looking to appoint a level 1 Teaching Assistant to join their team asap. The headteacher and staff all understand the huge responsibility they have in shaping the lives of their young people in preparing them with the skills for adult life. This is a fantastic school to work in as a Teaching Assistant and is part of well recognised trust who inspire success and development.

JOB DESCRIPTION – Teaching Assistant

• Support pupils with severe/profound learning difficulties

• Engage children into the teaching and learning activities

• Personal care including social, health and personal programmes

• Prepare the classroom for lessons and clear afterwards

• Contribute towards recording pupil progress

• Implement behaviour management strategies

• Clerical support for the teacher in preparing resources

• Pro active Teaching Assistant

• Salary package between £70 - £80 per day with healthcare benefits

PERSON SPECIFICATION -Teaching Assistant

• Minimum Level 1 or above child related qualification

• Supporting children aged 16-19 in a previous setting

• Autism training would be beneficial

• Competent user of Makaton/PECs.

• Comfortable with personal care

• Work as a team member

• Good communication skills

• Any additional relevant training would be an advantage

• Able to start this Teaching Assistant role immediately.
