Job description

I am currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to support the needs of pupils with SEN on a small group and 1:1 basis. 

The school is based in Chorley and caters for pupils across KS3 / 4 who are in receipt of an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) or Statement of Special Educational Needs regarding their identified Learning Difficulties.

The school caters for a wide range of different needs but the majority of students main identified need is associated with language and cognition difficulties (SLD/MLD/GLD). Some of the pupils will display challenging behaviours and can often be disengaged from education. 

Your role will be to support students throughout the school day with the aim of raising the achievement and attainment of pupils by using various styles of teaching and different situations; all students are encouraged to reach their targets. Where required you will be requested to provide 1-1 or and/ small group support to enable students to make progress in their work. Students also learn by watching others and sharing their knowledge therefore group work is encouraged where all students are able to use their own interests, skills and ability to work together.

This role will suit a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience or a Care / Support Worker, looking to transfer their existing SEN skills and knowledge into a school-based environment.

Working hours will be 8:30 - 3:30, 5 days per week, on a supply basis initially.
