SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism

Are you a SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new role?

Do you have experience in Autism, Team Teach, Makaton and PECs?

We are currently looking for a passionate and experience SEN TA who will normally carry a specific specialist responsibility (e.g. speech therapy) and support other staff in the school when help is needed in this area.

The deserving candidate needs to provide support for the teacher and pupils working with an individual or groups in the classroom (and in the playground), ensuring pupils are kept on task and complete activities set by teachers.  


Deal with behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with the teacher. Help implement lesson plans to support for curriculum, assist with testing and assessment. Detect signs of behavioural issues, work with outside health, social and enforcement agencies, maintain behaviour management standards of children, some of whom can be especially challenging and difficult with complex needs, deal with racial/abusive language and bullying


    Experience delivering specialist interventions with autistic children

    Exceptional communicators and strong team-players

    Team Teach, Makaton, PECs trained

    Able to fit in well with the supportive staff-team at the school

    A pro-active and enthusiastic teaching assistant who can bring to the post lots of ideas and a passion for working with SEN children

    Previous experience working with autism is essential for this role

    Eligibility to live and work in the UK

    The desire and motivation to meet the challenge of working with children with Special Needs (SEN)

    Ability to stay calm and objective when presented with unusual or challenging behaviour
