SEN Teacher

Job description

We are working with a specialist school in Birmingham (B13) who cater for children with profound multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) who are looking for a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Teacher to join their team full time. 

The needs of the pupils within the provisions vary from complex needs to challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.

These schools support the growth and development of pupils aged between 11-18 years and are responsible for devising a personalised curriculum for each child. The role will be working with a small class of 10-12 students in Ks3 and in the class you will be supported by 3-4 teaching assistants / learning support assistants. The work pattern will be Monday- Friday Time: 08:30-15:30.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient!- this role can be challenging, but it is very rewarding!
  • QTS or a PCGE
  • You will need to have experience working within an SEND school
  • A strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with both pupils and parents

Role of an SEN Teacher:

  • Responsible for a class of 10-12 pupils
  • Working with pupils with ASC, complex needs, challenging behaviour and SEMH
  • Responsible for key support staff
  • Managing pupil behaviour through escalation techniques
