The Role
We are seeking supply SEMH Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 4. Working in a local SEMH school in Newton Aycliffe, starting in ASAP. The support needed is on a one-to-one basis and general classroom support. The school is a friendly and supportive specialist setting, with children aged 14 to 16 with Social and Emotional needs. If you have previous work experience in a SEMH Teaching Assistant role or have supported vulnerable people with transferrable skills and would like to transfer to a classroom setting, we would love to hear from you.
The school
The specialist school caters for students with communication and interaction problems, learning difficulties and social or emotional issues. The school offer brilliant facilities and resources, and the staff pride themselves on their child-centred approach.
Requirements
To be considered for the SEMH Teaching Assistant role you must:
- Hold a driving licence, which would be preferred, but not essential.
- Confident de-escalating challenging situations. Training would be an advantage but not essential.
- Hold a DBS certificate would be an advantage but not essential this can be arranged.
We are committed to safeguarding children and young people. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
