Residential Team Leader - Resential CAMHs (Bolton)

Salary: £19,760 to £20,800 DOE, additional £35 per sleep averaging 6 sleeps per month

Location: Bolton

Our Client, a specialist childrens residential organisation with several sites within the North West are currently looking to recruit a Team Leader for their stunning 5 bedded Home in Bolton.

The successful candidate will be required to work on a shift basis and support the Registered Manager by leading the shift team in the direct support work of the children / young people and to ensure that the highest standards of care are in place. To meet and promote the needs of the children / young people and provide opportunities to advance their opportunities and life experiences in a positive manner. Team Leaders actively take part in the recruitment of new team members and the development of their allocated RSW team members.

They also provide part of the 'on call' service for the children's homes if/when required in the absence of the Registered Manager.

Applicants will need experience of working in Residential Children's homes and experience of supporting children and young people with complex health needs will be a distinct advantage.

Job Description

Role and Function:

  1. To act as a member of the team and assist the management in giving the highest standard of care possible to all the children/young people closely following individual plans, risk assessments and programmes in place.
  2. To understand the importance of the need for confidentiality in all client matters at all times.
  3. To act as a role model in conjunction with colleagues to ensure yours and their welfare and create a safe, clean and secure environment for all children/young people and relatives.
  4. To take overall responsibility in ensuring the running of the home is to its highest possible standard, coordinating the shift, allocating child supervision and prioritising care.
  5. Act accountably as a resource and role model for the junior staff and the children/young people.
  6. Adopt a forward thinking approach to care provided and act as the children's advocate in conjunction with the junior staff.
  7. To work in a variety of settings if needed, in order to support the children e.g. in the child's family home, educational setting and activity setting etc.
  8. To develop skills in order that the child's individual health, social, emotional and psychological development needs are met.
  9. To provide support, advice and information to the children, parents and other carers as required.
  10. Demonstrate an awareness of child development and the child's need for appropriate cognitive age play, adhering to the rostered activity rota.
  11. To act as a driver/escort for the child if needed.
  12. Once trained to provide and carry out clinical duties necessary to meet the child/young people's health needs on a daily basis.
  13. Accountable for petty cash while on duty and adhere to the company policy and procedure.
  14. Organise time management to accommodate rostered activities and intensive interaction for the shift.
  15. To complete supervisions for allocated staff in line with policy and procedure.
  16. Identify training requirements for members of the team and actively support team members to develop within their role.
  17. To undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Management.


  1. Be responsible for promoting ongoing improvements in the overall successful running of the organisation.
  2. All staff will be expected to attend and contribute to staff meetings and senior staff meetings.
  3. Work as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team creating positive working relationships.
  4. All annual leave will be booked in accordance with Courtyard Care Ltd policy and directly through the management team.
  5. Take responsibility for the coordination of evacuating the home in case of a fire, adhering to the evacuation procedure.
  6. You are expected to report on duty at commencement time of shift, any lateness must be reported to management and documented on the rota and in the daily log.
  7. Any sickness should be conducted as per policy and a back to work form must be completed on return to work. Any sickness must be reported directly to the senior staff on shift and management and recorded on the rota.
  8. It is your responsibility to ensure any staff returning from sickness, complete sickness form and read back over all documentation up to their last day in work.
  9. At work overcome difficulties, setbacks and pressures to get things done, understanding the impact of related complex needs and to recognise and encourage commitment in others.
  10. Support children/young people with complex needs to experience life opportunities which promote the growth of individuals to their maximum potential.
Person Specification


  • NNEB, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Good standard of general education
  • I.T. Skills
  • It is extremely desirable that applicants are working towards a level 4 in Childcare

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 years post qualifying experience
  • Knowledge/experience of children who have complex needs
  • Able to work on own initiative and as a team member
  • Have a positive approach to behaviours that could present challenges
  • Car driver with access to a car with business insurance for work
