We are collaborating with a dynamic and forward-thinking school that serves students aged 3 to 18 with Education, Health, and Care Plans, addressing a broad range of special educational needs and disabilities. These range from moderate/severe to profound and multiple needs, including students with autism and associated behaviors.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching or senior staff in delivering care, learning programs, and assistance to students with severe learning difficulties, including those with complex and multiple needs and challenging behaviors. You will work in various educational settings, both within the classroom and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision and targeted support to students, including those with special educational needs, ensuring their safety and full access to learning activities.
- Foster positive, supportive relationships with students by responding to their individual needs.
- Assist with personal care plans-such as eating, toileting, and continence-to encourage independence and engagement.
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored strategies that help students meet their learning objectives.
- Promote and uphold an inclusive, welcoming learning environment across the school.
- Support individual students or small groups during both independent and group learning sessions.
- Apply specialised knowledge and training to deliver effective, personalised support.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above) and possess an NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience, skills, or training.
- Have experience supporting children in a classroom environment.
- Ideally have training or experience using Makaton (desirable but not essential).
- Have experience working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
- Possess a good understanding of the national curriculum and relevant educational programs or strategies.
- Be committed to high standards and continuous improvement in all areas of work.
- Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
