Job description
Job Purpose
To work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff to support teaching and learning, including the delivery of learning activities to individuals, small groups, or whole classes when the teacher is absent. The HLTA will contribute to raising standards of pupil achievement and supporting pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development.
Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning
Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities to individuals, groups, or whole classes under an agreed system of supervision
Cover classes in the short-term absence of teachers, following lesson plans and school policies
Support pupils in accessing the curriculum, adapting activities where appropriate
Assess, record, and report on pupils' progress and achievements
Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
Support for Pupils
Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND, EAL, and SEMH
Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and self-esteem
Provide feedback to pupils to support learning and progress
Assist with personal care and physical needs where required
Support for Teachers
Contribute to lesson planning and evaluation
Prepare learning resources and materials
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
Support assessment activities and data collection
