Job type: Temporary, Part time

Location: Trafford, Greater Manchester

£20 - £22 per hour

Recruiter: Monarch Education

Sector: Education

Job description

We are an approved provider for Trafford LEA, and we regularly take referrals for Mentors to work within that borough.

The children that you would be working with are often 'looked after' and are experiencing a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties such as Attachment Disorder, and could have experienced severe trauma - they may have very negative experiences of education, and need some support to engage with their learning again and be motivated to attend school.

They may require mentoring to aid transition back to school following the long period of lockdown.

  • Mentoring usually takes place after the school day or at weekends - occasionally within school hours. - An individual assignment is usually between 1 and 2 hours per week.
  • Sessions could be in the young person's home, at a local community venue (when open) or might be outside in the nicer weather.
  • You can accept as many assignments as your schedule will allow! You would be required to complete weekly summary reports.
  • Support usually needs to be put in place very quickly, so would not suit anyone working full time who has to work a notice period.
  • You MUST have relevant experience supporting young people as outlined above, or these roles may also suit Psychology Graduates, Counselling and Psychotherapy Graduates, or similar.
  • You must have an enhanced, child workforce DBS on the update service - we can assist you with a new application if you do not have this.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all our temporary workers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive pre-employment checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list. This role involves working with children on a daily basis and is therefore in regulated activity.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications regardless of sex, age, race, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity or disability.

This vacancy is based in the United Kingdom. We operate in the UK and can only process applications from candidates who are currently UK residents and eligible to work in the UK. Whilst we will endeavour to contact you following your response, due to the high volume of applications we regret that this cannot always be possible. If you have not had notification from us within 30 days please take your application as not being successful this time but we will keep your details on file for future opportunities.
