Post 16 Lead SEN Tutor

Timeplan are currently working with a new SEN College in Lambeth. They are recruiting a Lead Tutor to start in September, in a full-time position. Working hours will be 8am - 4.45pm on Monday and 8am - 4pm Tuesday - Friday.

The college is in a large state of the art building and has a wealth of resources available to staff and students. Students are aged 19 - 25 years old and have an EHCP for Autism and associated needs. There are currently 7 students at the college, but there are hopes this will expand quickly.

The shortlisted candidate must have experience teaching functional skills English, Maths, and ICT to students with SEN, most students are currently working at entry level 1 & 2. As well as being academic, one of the colleges main focuses is to get students employment within the local community. They run a number of classes, such as food prep, cooking and kitchen skills and the lead tutor is expected not only run these sessions, but also be active in setting students targets and working with them to gain employment. As part of the enterprise scheme student's food, crafts etc are sold in the college café, and alongside the senior staff you will help to promote and move this scheme forward.

The college is affiliated with a school and KS5 students attend the college to part take in some of the sessions.

The college are looking for pro-active, progressive staff with a creative approach to teaching. This is a great opportunity to grow with an organisation, where you will be heard, while being in a positive and happy working environment.

Key Skills:

  • FE Qualified
  • Experience & a proven track record within a UK School or College teaching post 16
  • Be available full time for the full academic year
  • Experience and understanding of ASD and Communication needs
