Job description

Are you a graduate thinking about a career in Teaching? Would you like to receive free training, a paid placement and a long term job in a local SEND school? If so, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

We are urgently recruiting graduates to take part in our National Teaching Assistant Programme (NTAP). No experience is necessary, as full training will be provided, followed by a paid placement and then long term work supporting students in a local SEND school. This is the ideal opportunity for graduates thinking about a career in Teaching, but not in a position to commit to a PGCE. Many of our Graduate Teaching Assistants in the past have gone on to be put through their teaching qualification by schools they have worked in on supply.

About the school

We work with SEND schools all over the North East. We work with a diverse range of special schools that cater for young people with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition), MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties) and many other complex issues.

To be considered for the role of Graduate Trainee Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Have an empathetic but outgoing approach.
  • Have an ability to engage young people that cannot access mainstream schooling.
  • Have a passion for working with and helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Be qualified to degree level.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Completion of Training Scheme

We are committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.

About us

We are a market-leading education recruitment and supply agency committed to the learning and development of young people. With branches across the country, we are an employer of choice for high-quality primary, secondary and SEND teaching and support staff.

What we offer

As a valued employee, you will receive:

  • Excellent daily rates paid weekly by our in-house Payroll team using the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system.
  • Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to availability and qualifying criteria).
  • Pension contributions (subject to a qualifying period).
  • Full compliance with AWR (Agency Workers' Regulations), to make sure you get the pay and working conditions you are entitled to.
  • FREE training to help with your professional development such as Team Teach training, online webinars and safeguarding and child protection updates.
  • Generous refer a friend or colleague bonus scheme.
  • Access to a dedicated consultant, who will provide ongoing support.

We do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
