Graduate Teaching Assistant | Autism Support | Westminster

We are currently seeking experienced Teaching Assistants for primary schools based throughout London around the Harrow area to support severe and complex needs. This may include supporting ASD, SEMH, and other special educational needs. The role is a full-time position starting as soon as possible.

Our client is looking for motivated, outgoing individuals to join the team of teaching assistants and encourage SEN students in the school. The school has an outstanding rating and offers full training and support to new staff.

Roles may include:

  • Work with individual children and young people as directed by the class teacher, headteacher, senior leaders and teachers.
  • Act in accordance with school policies and procedures and relevant legislation particularly, in relation to child protection and behaviour management
  • Participate with other team members in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning programmes for individuals and group of pupils
  • Monitor and contribute to the assessment and recording of children's development and be involved in the sharing of this information
  • Maintain and develop good working relationships with parents and other adults involved with each child
  • Contribute to the preparation of classrooms and outdoor areas
  • Exercise general care and supervision of children during the school day, inside and outside
  • Promote development and learning, physical, emotional, educational, and social

The job will require Teaching Assistants to work closely with one individual student and to take responsibility for their progression in school. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students in Early Years / Primary schools, expertise in supporting students on the Autistic Spectrum. It will also be desirable for the candidate to be confident and calm when managing challenging behaviour and a passion to support and engage children with a range of learning needs.
