Special Educational Needs (SEND) Teaching Assistant in Doncaster
Location: Doncaster (DN6, DN5, DN2, DN3)
Contract: Long-term, short-term, or day-to-day
Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday
Salary: £84 to £95 per day

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join our team in supporting students across various special needs schools in Doncaster.

About the Schools
As an agency working closely with SEND schools in Doncaster - we have opportunities available in a range of different settings and the flexibility of our agency means that you get to decide which of these settings you would prefer to work in. Some of our SEND schools in Doncaster have children with MLD, ASD, PMLD, SLD.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning Support: Assist in the planning and delivery of personalised learning activities, adapting materials and teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
- Behavioural Assistance: Support students in managing their behaviour using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
- Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal care needs as required, ensuring the dignity and well-being of each student.
- Classroom Support: Work alongside the class teacher to set up activities, prepare resources, and maintain an organised and supportive classroom environment.
- Monitoring Progress: Observe and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents, and contributing to progress reports and meetings.
- Inclusive Environment: Promote an inclusive atmosphere where all students feel valued and supported, encouraging social interaction and emotional well-being.
Essential Criteria
- Experience: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.
- Patience and Empathy: A compassionate and patient demeanour, with the ability to respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Adaptability: Flexibility in adapting to different student needs, teaching styles, and classroom settings.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
- Commitment to Safeguarding: A strong understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Desirable Criteria
- Driving License: A valid driving license is preferred, as it may be necessary to travel between different school sites or for extracurricular activities.
