Job Title: Full-Time SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex (BN23 area)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential to become permanent)
Salary: Competitive, based on experienceAbout the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified SENCO to join a supportive and dynamic secondary school environment in Eastbourne for the upcoming autumn term.
This is a full-time, temporary role with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.
You will play a vital leadership role in ensuring that pupils with special educational needs receive the tailored support and interventions they require to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the SEN provision across the school
Coordinate and monitor EHCPs, SEN support plans, and interventions
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals
Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive practice and differentiation
Ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities and SEN Code of Practice
Contribute to whole-school improvement and inclusion strategies
Requirements:
Qualified SENCO (NASENCO qualification essential)
Valid Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
Proven experience supporting pupils with a wide range of SEND
Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
Secondary school experience desirable
Resilience and confidence working in a challenging or high-needs school environment is a strong advantage
