Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceWe are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Speke, Liverpool on a full-time basis, starting in September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs. The school supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and complex learning needs. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially, emotionally, and independently.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND. Working closely with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, therapists, and families, you will create a positive learning environment that supports pupils to achieve their personalised outcomes while promoting confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver creative, high-quality lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEND.
Differentiate learning to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.
Develop and implement personalised learning programmes in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise learning outcomes.
Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that supports pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
Promote positive behaviour using effective behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, therapists, educational psychologists, and other external professionals.
Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on pupil progress and wellbeing.
Contribute to annual EHCP reviews and multi-agency meetings where required.
Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are carried out in accordance with statutory guidance and school policies.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Experience teaching children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, or a strong commitment to developing a career within specialist education.
Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, SLCN, and a range of additional learning needs.
Experience planning and delivering differentiated lessons for pupils with diverse abilities.
Excellent classroom management skills with a calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside multidisciplinary professionals and families.
