Job description
We're looking for a compassionate and adaptable KS1 Teacher to join our team at Silverwood's Trowbridge Campus, a sensory rich, specialist setting supporting pupils with complex needs including autism, sensory processing, and communication challenges.
This isn't a typical classroom role and would perfectly suit someone who embraces a challenge, looks to unlock potential in non-traditional ways, and thrives in a setting where every small step is celebrated.
You'll be teaching a small, mixed-age KS1 class (up to 8 pupils), supported by a dedicated team. Pupils follow a semi-formal curriculum focusing on early communication, social development, and emotional regulation through highly structured, creative and hands-on learning.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver tailored, engaging lessons for a semi-formal pathway
- Collaborate closely with your class team and therapy staff to meet each child's needs
- Adapt teaching approaches to support sensory, communication and social-emotional development
- Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and target setting
- Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and their families
What you'll bring:
- A warm, calm and consistent approach to teaching
- Experience (or openness to learn) working with pupils with complex SEND
- Patience, flexibility and the confidence to try new approaches
- Strong behaviour support and classroom management skills
- The ability to communicate clearly and adaptively with pupils, families and staff
- A collaborative mindset. You'll work closely with 15 passionate SEN teachers on-site
"Silverwood has a real sense of community. It's an inspirational place to work with fantastic people at every level."
What we offer:
- A close-knit, skilled team and supportive leadership
- Creative freedom to teach in ways that truly meet each child's needs
- Access to CPD, SEND-specific training and a well-structured induction
- A stunning outdoor Forest School, sensory rooms and a calm, purpose-built environment
- A school culture where wellbeing, reflection and staff voice matter
This role has some challenges, but it's also deeply rewarding. If you're looking for purpose, community and professional growth, we'd love to hear from you.
