SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Stechford (B33)
Pay: £105-£115 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term time only)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term | Temp-to-perm opportunityAre you a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? This is a rewarding opportunity to join a specialist SEN school that places emotional wellbeing, positive relationships, and long-term development at the heart of everything it does.
We are working in partnership with a specialist SEN school to recruit a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils learn in small groups and receive highly personalised support.
The RoleIn this role, you will support children with SEMH and additional SEND, many of whom benefit from consistent guidance with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement with learning. You will work closely with class teachers, behaviour specialists, and the wider pastoral team to deliver calm, consistent, and trauma-informed support throughout the school day.
The role includes classroom-based support alongside planned interventions designed to help pupils regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesAbout the School
Support pupils with SEMH needs across KS1 and KS2
Provide one-to-one and small-group support within a specialist SEN setting
Assist pupils with emotional regulation using consistent behaviour strategies
Support de-escalation and positive behaviour management approaches
Encourage engagement with learning through structured routines
Promote pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
