Literacy Intervention
Teaching Personnel are actively recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to provide Literacy Support to students in KS3 at one of our partnership Secondary Schools in the Newport area. This position is running on a full-time basis and will be ongoing likely for the full academic year. The successful applicant will be providing literacy support to students in KS3 who need specialist intervention to bring their ability up to the appropriate level.
What is required?
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS Certificate available on the update service
- Valid Registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
- Passion for education
- Patient and caring nature
- Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects preferred.
A degree in English is desirable.

What does a Literacy Intervention do?
The successful applicant will be providing literacy intervention to students in KS3 at the school. The support sessions will be conducted on both a 1:1 and small intervention group basis and focusing on the literacy and numeracy skills of the students with the goal of bringing their levels up to KS3 from a primary level.
The school is based in the Newport area and you will be joining a fantastic and supportive ALN department. You will have extensive additional training available to you from both the school and Teaching Personnel to aid your development and ability.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
