Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)Location: Gosport

Do you have a passion for languages and the confidence to lead and inspire others?We are proud to be partnering with a rapidly improving secondary school in Gosport-rated 'Good' in all areas-as they seek a Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead their department for a one-year maternity cover.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MFL specialist or an aspiring middle leader looking to progress in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
The RoleAs Head of MFL, you will play a key role in shaping, developing, and championing the school's languages provision. You will lead a small but highly committed team and ensure that students benefit from high-quality teaching that promotes curiosity, cultural understanding, and confident communication.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and delivering engaging MFL lessons across KS3 and KS4
(A-Level teaching is desirable but not essential)Supporting curriculum planning, assessment practices, and teaching strategies
Driving continuous improvement across the department
Collaborating with senior leadership to maintain high standards of teaching and learning
Inspiring colleagues and learners through enthusiasm, subject expertise, and a commitment to excellence

RequirementsTo be considered for this role, you will need:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching French to GCSE (A-Level is desirable)
Ability to teach Spanish and/or German (desirable but not essential)
A genuine passion for languages, culture, and student achievement
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
