Hi everyone i'm Amy Allen founder of senploy.co.uk and we are continuing with our series of interviews with the specialist education recruiters from Prospero teaching and today we have Kaylie so Kaylie do you want to introduce yourself and what What do you do you do at Prospero hi so my name is Kaylie i work as the primary consultant at prosper teaching so what i do is i recruit um teachers teaching assistants uh scn support as well um to work in special needs schools and primary schools across the Manchester area amazing so there's lots of recruitment companies out there at the moment and Why should candidates come to you

why should candidates come to you kaylee i think because um we're an sen specialist um you know my colleagues they work with a lot of sdn provisions in the Manchester area and we have it they have and i have as well now and really good working relationships uh

that have lasted a very long time um all across the city of Manchester all areas fantastic

Benefits of working in the education sector so if people are thinking about a career in

education what are the benefits of working in the sector well in the recruit so in the recruitment sector in in scn and inside so i used to work in that sector myself before i came to recruitment and it's very rewarding um very it's while it's very challenging as well um but as well you kind of get so you get a good experience of kind of you get to know children you get some new stuff and it's just a very good um it's kind of a good way of working in schools as

well like if say um we take graduates who are preparing for pgces and so they you know it's really good experience for them and as well it puts the ones that you know that are qualified teachers in good stead for permanent jobs as well Job titles okay so job titles wise what sort of roles you're recruiting for at the moment so we recruit uh so one-to-one support in mainstream and uh special schools um we do behaviour mentors as well um sdntas uh asctas so in like uh so i ought to support children with autism adhd down syndrome um a child like children with a variety of needs um a lot of you know behavioural uh issues as well and just so we can like provide you know the best you know tailored one-to-one support Personal qualities great and what personal qualities are important to work in special education i think patience is a very big thing and you know you've got to be very patient um i think as well i think these two kind of go together you've got to be reliable um and you've also got to be very

consistent i think a very important thing as somebody who's worked in education and you know children that do need a bit of extra support and i think consistency is key and because it helps them as well they become used to you and they have a routine and they know exactly you know what's going on in their day and i think as well having good knowledge as well

Experience yeah for sure and do you recruit individuals that don't have any experience kaylee or does everyone have to have experience to work in the sector no we recruit all the time and it's not always about the experience really and it's about the candidate as well you know how they are as people how they come across you know if they're passionate um and you know the personality the desire to work with children and you know i've i've come across like psychology graduates who've come across they've touched on like sen in their courses and they want to learn a little bit more you know do a little bit further work and so yeah we'll come from you know you come from like any kind of backgrounds experiences and it's

just all about the personality and the desire really amazing so if someone sees a job on

senploy and they apply what happens what Applying on Senploy what happens then right okay so yeah they see the job on senpai and they apply and we see uh those jobs come up and we see some play um so what we'll do we'll give the them a call have a little chat with them kind of ask you know kind of touch base with them ask them about their experiences and what they're looking for as well and then we invite them uh to it's about like a 20 30 minute zoom call just to have like so we have like make notes of them get some basic information

as well like their area um and then we so that we've registered them then they do all the documents uh sort out the dbs as well because we need to make sure that they have a dbs and

set into the settings and that's kind of that's how it goes okay fab so in terms of the dbs that's

Cost of DBS obviously an essential and part of what's yeah absolutely it's part of their toolkit and so how how what's the cost of that and is that something you will support them through that process yeah absolutely i mean we do this for the candidates through us it costs them

45 pounds 80. um but then we encourage them um to put it on the update service which is an

extra 13 13 pounds a year um but once they have it it's theirs they can use it anywhere it's portable um so it's we really encourage that as well and i think it's really important to stress that without a dbs you will not be able to work in our sector that's that's that's absolutely yeah okay and that's really to safeguard all the children young people that would be the pair of

the candidates that do get the jobs okay absolutely Do candidates have to pay do you have do candidates have to pay you for you to find them a job no there's no fee no charge at all amazing right um if you place when you place someone into a role what happens if they have any questions or they're just not sure about something or they think it's not the right thing for them what happens next well what we kind of do we look after them every step of the way you know from the registration process all the way up to finding them their first job and you

know we have knowledge of the schools as well because we work for them and my

colleagues in particular they've worked with them for so long and so it's kind of like it is like when i was a teacher myself i had doubts as well and it's just you know you kind of you've got to take the experience for what it is and if they don't you know if they didn't they had a bad day and they found out it's not for them then we support them in finding something else you know Whats the best thing about your job there's always something else for them

amazing that's really good so it sounds like if they were to register with prospero and you find them a job it doesn't work out you will find them something else so it's sort of absolutely is genuinely a career path that people can stay on for a long long time it is a genuine career for life fab so kaylee what's the best thing about your job first thing about the job is working

with schools and finding them the best candidates you know as a former supply teacher myself you know it's very important for me and to find you know candidates the best schools that suit them or equally schools to find the perfect candidates for them so they can mold them and shape them in who they want to be as professional like education professionals

amazing i think that's given everyone a really good insight into what you do behind the scenes at prospero to get people the jobs in education and so the children young people out there are going to be really really lucky to have the candidates working with them that you will find so thanks so much for talking to us today kaylee and i hope you have a really great day thank you youtube thank you bye
